Three Jewels is very pleased to welcome Tibetan master, Lama Khenpo Chimed Rinpoche, to the West Country for a programme of teachings and retreat. Lama Khenpo was born in the Yolmo region of Nepal, near the border with Tibet, and from an early age felt inspired to devote his life to the path of inner wisdom. He undertook the traditional training as a monk and studied and meditated for 20 years before attaining the status of a Khenpo, which signifies his wisdom and spiritual attainments. In Nepal he was given an important post in the government as representative of all the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the country and in that period of his life he travelled all over the Himalayan kingdom, giving teaching, instruction and helping the monasteries to thrive and prosper.
He has also travelled to other countries including Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, USA, South America, France and England and is experienced in teaching international audiences. He brings to his teachings a relaxed informality, combined with deep insight and knowledge of the human condition. He is especially renowned for his warmth, compassion and sense of humour. In England Khenpo has visited Glastonbury every year for the last 7 years and he has a special affinity for the town, its landscape and spiritual community. Within Nepal, Khenpo has established a school for Tibetan refugee and poor Nepali children, where the ancient Buddhist traditions of Tibet are taught and kept alive. The school is supported by donations and sponsorship from individuals and organisations in the west. In the UK the charity Siddhartha Foundation UK has just been established to support this noble work. If you would like to know more about this side of Khenpo Rinpoche's work, check out the Siddhartha Foundation website. |
